Live Video Studio — Edit Chat-Built Videos Without Starting Over
June 3, 2026
When Alfred assembles a video from video_editor or video_lab, you now get a Live Video Studio panel in the Work tab — one persistent surface per session instead of a carousel of intermediate MP4s. Watch the step list while Alfred works, then preview the final cut and drag-trim-reorder the timeline yourself.
What you can do
- One Live tab per session — every
video_editor/video_labcall in the chat merges into a single Video Studio item (no more1/8,2/8chevrons). - Phase 1 step list — see the current turn's steps (
render slide, concat, mix audio, finalize) with live progress while Alfred is working. - Phase 2 preview + timeline — unlocks after
finalizemarks the deliverable (deliverable: true): full preview player plus a horizontal Adobe-style timeline. - Edit the assembly — drag-reorder clips, trim in/out, pick transitions (fade, crossfade, wipe, …), set a colour Look per clip, and move/trim audio blocks.
- Update preview — pushes your edits to the canvas and rebuilds the MP4 on the CUDA sidecar; the new file appears in Generated Files.
- Chat sync — if Alfred adds a clip or music in a follow-up message, the timeline re-syncs automatically unless you have unsaved edits (then click Update preview first).
Where this shows up
- You asked Alfred to turn six uploaded images into a narrated explainer. While it runs, Live shows each step. When
finalizecompletes, you open Live → Video Studio, see your actual uploads in order (not opaquesection1_vo.mp4intermediates), drag a VO block left by two seconds, and hit Update preview. - You generated a Runway clip with
video_lab, then Alfred stitched it with slides viavideo_editor. The same Live panel tracks both tool families in one place. - You want to tweak crossfades without re-prompting Alfred. Select transitions between clips in Phase 2, rebuild, done.
Try it
- "Turn these six PNGs into a 60-second narrated explainer with crossfades between sections." — watch Live during the build, then open Video Studio after finalize to trim or reorder.
- "Swap the second and third clips in the timeline and add a cinematic look to the opener." — edit in Live, click Update preview.
- "Add background music under the voiceover on the video we just finished." — ask in chat; if you haven't manually edited the timeline, Live re-syncs the new audio lane automatically.
Heads up
- Default clip length on upload-derived segments is 5 seconds until you trim or Alfred probed the file — the ruler is approximate until then.
