Kimi K2.7 Code Is Live, Fable 5 Pulled Back

June 13, 2026

Kimi K2.7 Code is now in the model picker as Moonshot's coding-focused SOTA model. At the same time, Anthropic Claude Fable 5 (Mythos) has been pulled back after a DoW notification, so it is no longer selectable while we review the notice and related obligations.

What you can do

  • Pick Kimi K2.7 Code from the model selector for long-horizon coding, multi-turn refactors, UI generation, and agentic engineering work.
  • Use a 262K-token context window for codebases, design briefs, logs, and multi-file implementation plans that need to stay in one reasoning pass.
  • Run it through the SOTA band with tool support, reasoning enabled, and swarm eligibility for harder engineering workflows.
  • Keep using private-safe alternatives when data-handling constraints matter: Opus 4.8, GPT-5.5, Qwen 3.7 Max, DeepSeek V4 Pro, and the EU-hosted options remain available.
  • Avoid Claude Fable 5 (Mythos) for now. It has been removed from selection and Auto routing after the DoW notification.

Where this shows up

  • You were planning to use Mythos for a high-stakes review. Pick Opus 4.8, GPT-5.5, or Qwen 3.7 Max instead while Fable 5 stays pulled back.
  • You're doing a difficult coding session where Kimi K2.6 was the previous Moonshot choice. Kimi K2.7 Code is the newer manual pick for that lane.
  • You want Auto to stay conservative. Fable 5 remains out of Auto routing, and Kimi K2.7 Code is available as an explicit model choice.

Try it

  • "Switch to Kimi K2.7 Code and map the safest way to refactor this module without changing public behavior."
  • "Use Kimi K2.7 Code to review this PR for subtle bugs, missed edge cases, and migration risks."
  • "Plan the UI implementation from this screenshot, identify the components, and then make the changes file by file."

Heads up

  • Fable 5 is pulled back, not quietly replaced. The previous launch note is now historical context only; it should not be treated as an active availability promise.
  • The pullback was triggered by a DoW notification. We will not re-enable Mythos-class access until that notice has been reviewed and the operating constraints are clear.
  • Kimi K2.7 Code replaces Kimi K2.6 in the public specs sheet. Existing pinned Kimi K2.6 references may remain in older release notes as history, but the live specs now point users to K2.7.
